Well ![]()
Yea, that’s how long it is taking for my system to boot. I’m already .5 gig short off my RAM. And I think even the remaining .5 is about to DIE. ![]()
The system has become dead slow. Today when I started the system, i took 37 minutes to boot. It stuck at the loading XP screen. After that, I received the error saying Windows cannot find the locally stored profile. Then it said that Windows is loading a temporary profile and that changes made will not be saved (
). I finally see my desktop. But hey wait, its not mine (
). SHIT.!! Everything’s gone. All customizations are nowhere to be seen.
What could have gone wrong ?
/////Edit:
Update 1: If I try to start any installed software, everything is taking upwards of 300 seconds to show up. (
) Add to that, all the softwares are behaving as if I’m running them for the first time

Next time, leave your antivirus on! I don’t think its any problem with your RAM. i think you got a virus from somewhere.
the only solution is to re-install windows… or you can try booting from a linuxdefender live cd and cleaning out all viruses before booting in windows.
if you don’t want to loose any data in windows partition, attach your harddisk in a friend’s computer(with an updated antivirus running) and copy all the important stuff in his harddisk.. thats how we save data in the hostel.

Well dude, I have not 1 but TWO Antiviruses running. Symantec Corporate Client and Avast Antivirus. Both updated to the latest. I even had Spybot S&D plus Ad-aware SE Professional.
Anywez, I already re-installed both Windows and Linux ( 6.10 Yayy )
None of the people I know in Mumbai have a SATA supporting Mobo, so I cudnt backup. I lost data, but only the one which was on C: Drive.

Preshit,
What was the last thing you installed? You can do a rollback or System restore and everything should be fine
